Lean Construction is the official English term for a lean construction process. The global trend is, in a way, recent. It started in the 1980s and, since then, it has been generating positive impacts in the civil construction segment.
The objective is to act considering sustainable issues. This means avoiding waste with raw materials, time and money. Thus, consequently increasing productivity, improving the quality of deliveries and generating more efficiency in the work routine.
Lean Construction’s approach includes applying the principles of clean thinking to the construction environment. It encompasses everything from production management – along with the adoption of tools, such as the PDCA cycle – to the completion of the project.
In this sense, the methodology brings together concepts from TQM (Total Quality Management, or JIT (Just in Time), among other models. This is always thinking about how it is possible to increase the performance of civil construction projects and, at the same time, avoid so much waste.
